Allan Gatenby

Allan Gatenby CMF – CEO ACPI Training Australia

Allan has over 30 years of exceptional leadership experience, holding an M. Ed. (Leadership & Management), and specializing in transition management. He is an ICCI Board Certified Career Management Fellow.

In 2011 Allan was appointed to the Board of Governors for the Institute of Career Certification International. He is also the CEO of  ACPI-Aus and the President of NSW Division of CDAA. He was recently recognised for his services to the Career Development industry by being included in the 2010 -2011 Stanford Who’s Who.

As CEO of ACPi-Aus, Allan has developed a comprehensive training and member support program. The Accreditation Program enables Career Practitioners to meet professional competencies for professional accreditation. The Practice Development Program enables practitioners to develop their own practice through mentoring support. Both programs contribute to the gaining of a Graduate Certificate in Career Development Practice, a nationally recognized qualification. He also facilitates a comprehensive seminar/workshop program to enable practitioners maintain their professional standing.

Allan first became engaged in Career Development when he was appointed as a school Careers Adviser in 1978. He was among the first teachers in NSW to be ‘trained’ when he completed the 8 week intensive program that the Department of Education conducted. Shortly after completing this program he was appointed as a Senior Education Officer consulting in Student Welfare. He worked in a similar role in both public and private education and soon after was appointed as a school Principal. During these year’s career development and change management remained at the center of his leadership style. He was nominated for a National Award for Quality Leadership in school development in 2005.

He holds additional qualifications in Training & Assessment, Investigation and Conciliation, OHS, Choice Theory, Reality Therapy and Lead Management. He has also trained as a facilitator with both the Franklin Covey and Glasser Institutes, is an internationally accredited Career Planning Practitioner, and is currently enrolled at the Institute of Life Coaching.

He is highly intuitive and creative yet systematic and purposeful in his approach. Allan works with people to deliver well researched strategic plans – the basis for sustainable growth. He enables people and organizations to work SMARTER rather than harder.

Allan is a sought after as a presenter and facilitator. He has presented at local, national and international conferences on leadership, change management, community building, inclusive practice and people management. He has worked across both public and private sectors as a change manager.
